The first time I heard Hip Hop as a kid I fell in love with it. The combination of poetry, powerful messages that hit home, and fun braggadocio, combined with a hypnotic beat mesmerized me and I put my sights on becoming a member of the community. Like many aspiring artists though, I found myself consumed with life events that prevented me from pursuing a career in the music industry. That included being homeless twice and shortly thereafter becoming a single father. And after my best friend and rap partner died unexpectedly I just put my love for Hip Hop on a shelf. However, I decided to start tapping into my passion again years after hanging up my mic because I simply couldn’t resist writing rhymes again. I'm from the East Coast, 202 by way of the 757, but my style tends to morph to the music itself and my choice of song topics is diverse. I just spit truth from the heart and hope it sounds dope enough to reach someone.
Kaizen is a Japanese word that translates to "good change" and equates to continuous improvement. Those are the vibes I'm on ... always trying to evolve into my best through reflection, growth, and challenging myself. My goal is to produce Hip Hop music from a different perspective that delivers positive, multi-faceted messages which inspire and motivate my listeners while having fun in the process and paying homage to the roots of the Hip Hop culture. By the grace of God, I was able to pull myself out of a life of poverty and break dysfunctional cycles so I feel like I have something to offer listeners. I hope my artistry resonates.
